Please Leave Snails Alone by Belinda Hong

Senior Poetry Entry
If a snail is travelling somewhere that is forbidden,
Just touch its shell and it'll become hidden,
But please don't blame it because it's not its fault,
Because this little snail hasn't learnt about being an adult.
So if you see a little snail somewhere in your garden,
Crawling around looking for some food,
Please don't pick it up and throw it away,
Or then the RSPCA will arrive straight away!

They leave many slimy trails,
And they don't have any tails,
Though they have very poor eyesight,
So don't pick it up and start a fight,
Or then the poor little thing,
Will always stay absolutely tight!
It'll never leave its shell,
And it won't ever become well.
Just leave the snails alone,
So then they can continue on,
Until the days of their life...
Are done.
